Cadet Uniform Information

Brighton Cadet Squadron utilizes a total of three different types of uniforms for cadets.

Cadet Uniforms We Use

  1. Service Blues – We use our service blues during formal promotions, special ceremonies and local, state and regional meetings.
  2. ABU Uniforms (Airman Battle Uniforms) – We use our ABU Uniforms as our working uniforms.
  3. PT Uniforms – We use standard gymnasium attire during our physical training days.  Acceptable shirts are as follows: black t-shirt, black squadron t-shirt, any prior encampment t-shirt or sand color shirt.  Shirts with other insignia are not permitted.  Acceptable pants or shorts are as follows: loose fitting shorts or sweat pants in either navy, black or grey.

Uniforms must be complete before they can be worn.  There is no exception to this rule.  Cadets arriving in incomplete uniforms will be asked to switch into civilian clothes.  In the event that civilian clothes are not available, the cadet will not be able to participate in squadron activities for the day.

Of the three uniforms, Service Blues (or simply blues) are the only mandatory uniform required.  However, obtaining the other two uniforms is highly recommended as each uniform has a specific purpose that is geared toward the activities we perform during our meetings.

Brighton Cadet Squadron does have an inventory of Service Blue Uniforms and ABUs that will be available on a first come / first served basis.  Throughout the year, there are times when additional inventory becomes available to us.  When those opportunities arise, the squadron commander will take note of what sizes BCS is in need of and will do their best to secure needed items.

If available in inventory, cadets will be permitted to receive one set of blues (trousers, shirts and cap only) and one set of blues (pants, shirts and cap only).

If uniform items are not in inventory, cadets will be able to purchase the necessary items through Vanguard or a local military supply store along with all of the other peripheral items that are required to make complete uniforms (See “Where Can I Buy My Uniforms“).

To help defray some costs, cadets will receive a $100.00 from Civil Air Patrol that can be used with Vanguard to purchase items for the Service Blue uniform once they have completed the Curry Achievement.
